We really enjoyed getting spend time with our son, Ben, and see his life and ministry at the Youth With a Mission base in Lausanne.
We also were able to take a couple of train trips and see the Matterhorn (the iconic mountain on the Toblerone chocolate bars) and then up to the north part of Switzerland to see the the museums in Winterthur and the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen.
Aside from doing those touristy things, we enjoyed getting to know the staff and students at the YWAM base and I (Sara) helped out with some projects in hospitality and grounds maintenance.
The main purpose of the trip was for Darrel to be there for another development sprint for the the University of the Nations. The focus of this time to was to build a mobile app for students. It was a big project as this app will be available in 5 different languages. The team (consisting of the project leader, 3 admin people, 1 designer and 4 software developers) worked very diligently and accomplished a lot. They will get together to continue development again for two weeks in January.
We are back in Lakeside now until the end of October. We are at MBI where very exciting things are happening right outside our window. MBI is working on getting ready to build “Mission Lodge.” It will be a combination office building and 20 hotel style rooms. At this point they have cleared the land and are working on building up the land to the right grade…which means they are bringing in a 150 loads of fill. The things we are looking forward to is volunteering on projects around MBI, Ben coming to visit in September and spending time with family and friends…and of course some hiking in the mountains.
