We had a good time in Switzerland and are back in the USA now. We flew into Orlando, Florida, on January 13 and met 4 other members of the development team at the airport. After picking up a rental van we headed to an AirBnB where we were joined by the rest of the team. All together there are 10 team members here to do software development for the University of the Nations for two weeks.
My role for these two weeks is to shop for and feed the team and help with other logistics.
The day after we arrived we headed down to Sarasota to buy a car. Darrel had found the car online from a dealership and we agreed to purchase it while we were still in Switzerland. We feel very blessed with the 2012 Subaru Forester that we purchased.
The team for the sprint are from Switzerland, Columbia, Panama, Brazil and the USA. In this first week there have already been many hours of hard work. There have also been times of fun visiting and laughter. We had a friendly little “World Cup of Coffee” competition. This evening, the Brazilians introduced us to Jack Fruit. Two team members have gotten to celebrate their birthdays (42nd and 61st) while we are together. Another unique experience I had was driving part of the team drove over to Cape Canaveral where we got to watch a SpaceX launch.
After this we will be heading to St. Augustine, Florida (the oldest city in the US) and then up to Savannah Georgia. I have a feeling it is going to be quite the history lesson to visit these places. This will be the start of our 3 month journey back to Montana.
