It has been a while since our last update…last year we were in Kentucky working on two houses.  We left in April and headed back to Montana.  We wondered if we headed that way too soon when we ran into snow!  We enjoyed visiting Ben at his place in Salt Lake on the way there.  We spent the majority of the summer in Helena where Darrel worked out of the company’s office.  We also got to spend a significant amount of time with Brianna and Johnathan in Montana and were delighted at the birth of our grandson!  Being grandparents is awesome.  In November we made a cross country trip to Florida where we spent a couple of weeks working on a volunteer project with YWAM’s University of the Nations.  We made it back to Kentucky the beginning of December and less than a week later we flew to Alberta to be with Darrel’s mom whose health was failing.  We were blessed to get to spend the holidays together with the whole family.  Darrel’s mom passed away January 4.  We returned to Kentucky the middle of January and finished (painting, flooring and cabinets) a house that we had being built here.  It is now on market if you know of anyone wanting to move to Madisonville!

So, our new adventure is that we bought a small Viking Travel Trailer and we are going to haul it behind our Toyota Tacoma truck and travel some of the southern states and make our way back to Montana.  The past month have been filled with getting the trailer ready for travel. One of the biggest projects was Darrel upgraded the batteries so he can work remotely as we travel.  There have been so many little details – how to deal with gray water since there are no holding tanks on the trailer, putting a utility box on the tongue to carry the generator, figuring out what size of tables work for setting up a desk, finding chairs that are small and comfortable to sit in.  Every little detail you figure out is a little win.

We leave on Saturday and plan to make stops in Arkansas, New Mexico and Utah.  If you have any “must see” places or recommendations on places to stay, please let us know.  We plan to be in Montana most of May.  The plan is to head back to Kentucky because we have more houses to build here…the plan is to arrive once the drywall is complete and finish them. Then we will escape the heat and humidity and hopefully explore the northeast part of the country.  As always, our desire is to honor the Lord and travel with purpose.  We want to see the people God allows our paths to cross with and be an encouragement to them.
