Last week we were able to spend two days visiting Great Basin National Park.  It is such a small park they don’t even charge admission.  It was fun to visit the Bristlecone Forest.  The trees are 2000-3000+ years old and have a very unique appearance.  We stayed up at Sacramento Pass Recreational Area.  We met quite a few people in the campground there. One couple had lived in Montana much of their lives and we even had some mutual friends.  We had the opportunity to have a wonderful visit with them about things that have eternal significance.

On a humorous note, I found out that you should not store quinoa in a top cupboard in a plastic container.  As we pulled out from Sacramento Pass, it fell against the cupboard causing it to open and crashed to the floor.  The plastic container broke and this is what 3 pounds of quinoa looks like on an RV floor.  As one friend pointed out, at least it was a dry ingredient!  When I went to sweep it up, I found out it is tough to do when there is static electricity.  I ended up vacuuming it as best as I could and I am sure I will continue to find it for some time.

We are now in Hatch, UT, where we will stay for a couple of weeks.  We are just a half an hour from Bryce Canyon.  This is a beautiful area!  I am in awe of God’s amazing creation.  If you want to see pictures, be sure to friend me on Facebook or Instagram (saralautz) because I will be posting pictures there frequently.  This is a beautiful area of the country!

As we have embarked on this next chapter in this adventure called life, one thing Darrel and I have had at the forefront of our conversation is how we want to live intentionally.  We don’t want our life to be centered just around adventure or the next thing we want to do, rather we want to really SEE the people around us and take the time to visit with them and hear their stories.  When you see pictures sometimes it might look like all we do is hike or adventure, but that is because that is the easy part to share.  I love the beauty of God’s creation and I love to share it with others.  What really matters in this life though is people.
