After our adventure with the motorhome, we were in Apache Junction on the east side of Phoenix for a week in a half. We were so blessed to get together and visit with many friends. This nomadic life can be lonely, so it is wonderful to get to connect with friends that you have known for years. We even got to do a hike with friends from Montana in the Superstition Mountains. Relationships with people are to be treasured!

After that we headed up and boondocked in an area just outside of Valley of Fire State Park. This was an incredible place to get to visit. We enjoyed hiking there with some friends that we have met on this journey. Because it was so incredible I went back and hiked again while Darrel was working. We saw lots of mountain sheep and I took a ridiculous amount of pictures.

We are now in Pahrump for a couple of weeks before we head over to see the Redwoods and start our journey up the Oregon coast.

We have been on the road now for over 9 months. We have parked our motorhome in 19 places during that time. After leaving Montana, the shortest time we stayed in one place was for 1 night, the longest stint in one place was for 37 days.
Random thoughts…
Things I get excited about…
-A truck full of oranges…One of the things I looked forward to when we started out was being able to get food when it was in season right where it was grown. The other day I got to buy oranges from a guy who had the back of his pickup filled with them picked right off the tree. We have also had friends share their grapefruit and oranges off their trees!
-Clean, cheap laundry facilities. We have seen some great and not so great laundry facilities. I was excited to arrive at the park we are staying at and find 5 working washers and dryers…and it is only a $1 to wash and $1 to dry.
-Having hot water to wash the dishes. When we are boondocking, we only turn the hot water tank on for showers, so when we are on hook-ups, it feels like we are living the luxurious life!
-A neighbor’s kindness. When we were boondocking the people that pulled in near us had just come from Death Valley. She gave me the guide they received when you enter the park. I was thrilled to have the literature and maps to start researching where we want to go and how to get there…as well as get the report that even though many of the campgrounds are on a first come basis, they were never full 🙂
-Soaking up the sun
After this we will be heading to northern California and then up the Oregon coast. If you have recommendations of places to visit/things to do on the Oregon coast please let us know 🙂 We know we will never experience it all, but we love to hit the highlights!
